I think Bungie delayed release of this weapon until they were ready to push some new content... The exo stranger returns and explains some shit.
I'd love to see a new little storyline done by the live team with the Stranger. Maybe it's more off the record from the vanguard?

Not sure that we've heard anything about the next expansion. If we're to believe the Kotaku article, there won't be any year 2 expansions... we'll be getting a steady trickle of new free content instead (funded by microtransactions). I don't know if that is true or not.
