Destiny is beautiful (Destiny)

When I was 9, I had a free eye exam courtesy of the public school system. The test administrator was a nice woman who asked me to peer into a tiny shrouded screen and tell her when the rabbit became too small to see. I replied, "What rabbit?". It was quickly determined that I needed corrective lenses.

I remember the first day I received those lenses. I was riding home from the eye doctor with my dad and exclaiming, "Oh my gosh! I can see the individual leaves on all these trees!". It was like seeing the world in HD. My dad still remembers that day as well.

Today, after playing Destiny for a year on last gen, I played Destiny on current gen, and had the same experience. Destiny is beautiful - and all I had time to see was the Tower, all decked out for the Festival, and the inside of the Dreadnaught as Junior and I played the Nightfall before school (side story: we never got time to play last night because the download took so long. Lesson for my children: next gen graphics = more opportunities to practice patience.)

Acolytes and Knights have green hues on their faces; never knew that. That Darkblade fellow actually fades out of view like a sandman. Huh, cool trick. Ammo boxes are actual boxes with writing on them. My belt has bullets on it. And I'm wearing... feathers?

I can't wait to see the planets and Moon, as well as my favorite enemy, the Fallen. I think I might play through the entire story again - slowly, taking it all in. I've been accused of sightseeing more than once on last gen. Pretty sure I'll be guilty of it even more now.

And in a moment reminiscent of my youth, Junior, playing on Mars, exclaimed, "wow, this is a whole new area!" It took us a few minutes to figure out that, no, it was just the Rubicon Wastes, but the scene looked completely new.

Now I know how my dad felt.

That sounds like a really cool experience.

That's crazy. I knew Destiny made some sacrifices to run on last gen consoles, but I never imagined it was anything so substantial.

I've heard there are some cool things in skyboxes that aren't present on last gen (the skybox on the Moon comes to mind), but I haven't played on last gen so I don't know all the differences myself.

I'm glad you've joined our ranks! I bet your kids are so excited!

I remember that exact moment for myself. I was a Junior in high school. I was shocked that I could see so many leaves lol. I like to now blame the fact that I had trouble hitting a baseball on the fact that I really was playing blind :)

It definitely is a huge change going from last gen to current gen. Just go patrol the moon and look up to the sky. You'll see something you never saw on last gen.

I did the same thing in 7th grade. Funny how many times I hear this same thing (and experienced it for myself) -- "I can see the individual leaves on the trees!"

If you need an extra controller for Junior, this deal for $50 includes the Play & charge kit.
