Relic is so bad... (Destiny)

I play it with the full, 100% expectation to lose when it's the daily Crucible mission. The game type would be a lot more fun if it didn't take forever to capture a Relic and if it took longer than an instant to deactivate a probe. As it is I hate the game type. :(

Never capture the point. Let the enemy grab it, then disable for way more points...

You get more points for a capture. 100 per player in the capture zone then 600 when it captures. Only 450 for a disarm.

I think his point is that disabling is disproportionately easy compared to disabling. Two disables are worth 30% more than one capture and are much more than 50% easier than achieving a single capture.

His narrative lines up with my (very minimal) experience with the gametype; attempting a lot of captures generally results in a low success rate, and an opposing team can win without ever attempting one.

Though I think it would be improved if you automatically capture the relic if you manage to eliminate all three opponents at the same time. I agree that it shouldn't take so long to defend. I think the disable is about right, at most a second or two more. It's already 3 seconds-ish, sometimes it feels like five when you're disabling though.

I have adopted the "let the other team grab it" philosophy, and it seems to work. Plus they gather together like fish in a barrel. :)

Also - I totally got match made with you tonight... Sorry for shooting at you so I could wave. Good to see other DBOer's in the wild. Oddly enough, a friend of mine from real life was match made onto our team in that same match. What are the odds?

Haha. I was heading straight for the Report --> Unfriendly buttons then I saw who it was. :p I tired to keep near you from then on but we seemed to have gotten separated quite often. I think we won though, so there was that. :)
