Lighthouse: The Doctrine of Passing... (Destiny)
by WildthingVII, Saturday, October 31, 2015, 20:55 (3406 days ago)
Got to the Lighthouse, and was pretty excited. Then I was rewarded The Doctrine of Passing
I don't have the weapon parts to upgrade this yet, but I'm kind of sad. It looks like Atheon's Epilogue, which wasn't even useful during Void Burn. Has anyone had time with this gun that would like to prove me wrong...?
...please?
On the other hand, I got to the Lighthouse, so overall I'm still happy =)

Congrats on the LH. Had a good game this morning with Disciple and Zero and so far I'm enjoying the new trials. I'm also really happy about this weeks map. Bannerfall is my absolute favorite Destiny map. Spawns are completely equal, map spacing is great. Not alot of clutter to get hung up on when strafing or backing up and not alot of falling death traps.
It seems a little easier at the beginning of the card and ramps up around that 6th win. I like it this way. Rewards weren't horrible, but I'm trying to figure out what the hell passage coins are for now.
Also with the new matchmaking difficulty ramp, doesn't it seem to make more sense to hold on to the boon that gives you 2 wins for your next win. That way you can skip the hard rounds. Well assuming you win of course.
Oh and I'm finding the weapon/armor loadouts vary alot. Pulse rifles def seem to be more prevalent, but scouts, hand cannons, and even autos were in play. Shotties, snipers are big, but one guy was rocking Telesto. I'm running a defender with no backup plans and a shotty and a sword. :)
Thanks

Yeah, I'm with you on Bannerfall and the new matchmaking. I love both. The difficulty ramp was very noticeable for us. We breezed through our first 6. Our seventh was a brutal 3-4 comeback. At 8-0 we lost one by a sliver to blow the mercy, then sealed it on the next game. Perfect pacing.
As for loadouts, I saw almost all Pulse Rifles. I was going with Nirwen's Mercy + Eirene RR4 for most of my early cards, but that felt a bit too passive and vulnerable at close range. I played the winning card exclusively with Hawkmoon/Tlaloc and the trusty Eirene.
I wish you could buy the double-win boon at the end of the card, but with the new system, you can only buy boons before the first game. I find I blow though Passage Coins way faster now that I always have to buy all three up front instead of waiting to see how the card goes before doubling down.
I see you're playing right now. Best of Luck =)
Confirmed: Not Good

I finished upgrading it. It will officially be a trophy piece. May your luck be better.

Funny thing...

Earlier today, I was talking to some folks about how the low-tier Trials weapons (such as the Water and Lamp) seem to have better stats than the Lighthouse gear. Seems to be holding true.
Are they not the same?

Adepts vs Regular weapons, I mean?
Honestly, given the Y1 rewards I expected weapons better geared towards PvP. The Handcannon (and possibly Scout?) are, in that with only headshots the TTK is very fast, but they're not at all forgiving. The Pulse is just a better version of Nirwen, which is still the least rewarding PR model, and the AR is no good for anything.

For the most part, people seem to be getting the Pulse and Auto rifle more than anything, and the Scout and HC so far are the better of the set. The thing is that the Lighthouse gear's inherent perk isn't really all that better, since it's situational, and from what I've seen, my drops have better perks, too.
Also, the lower-tier weapons are Yellow. :P
But yeah, no more Messenger. :/

It looks like Atheon's Epilogue, which wasn't even useful during Void Burn.
How dare you.
But seriously, the gun is awful by all accounts. That's a trophy.

I got another 9-0 run in tonight, and I got another Doctrine of Passing. How rude.

Another LH!!! I hate you WildthingVII :)

Just kidding, you helped me get mine. Help me do it again. Seriously, I need help. I'm bad. My brother is running as a 293 Light and has a higher K/D in trials this weekend.
I'm no carry...

I don't know what my Trials K/D has been this weekend, but it's nothing spectacular. I feel like my teams just barely scraped by on both our winning cards.
I'll always help though, because it's a really fun game mode =)

Oh how humble :)

Wild k/d 1.37 this week.
Zero and Squid are around 1.6 this week.
Red, Dusk450, and Disciple .95, but I think Disciple will agree we are still great team players.

And while I generally think High RoF Autos are garbage, I got an Arminus D with good stability upgrades and enhanced tracker. It shredds up close. It's a great weapon for maps with lots of short range fighting and control gametypes. If you are good with a sniper, this is a good counter weapon to shotties. You can easily cut down a rushing shotty slider before he gets close. It also has a large mag so you can take out 2-3 relatively easily if you've tagged them with a nade first.
I love the Arminius D
by WildthingVII, Sunday, November 01, 2015, 19:18 (3405 days ago) @ red robber
Arminius D with focus fire is one of my very favorite PvE weapons. 72 bullets in a AR one level up the Impact/RoF archetype spectrum means bullets for daaaaaays. (The armory info says it has 42 bullets, but it's wrong).
Also, in my quest to like my drops, I decided to give the Doctrine a serious try in PvP, but this time I upgraded the version that rolled with Counterbalance, which means the recoil goes straight up. With the fast RoF, that's a really big improvement, and with the injection mold and persistence perks that are guaranteed, it's really pretty easy to handle.
I've decided it's a fun, if not Trials-viablle gun. It really does shred people in Rumble. I would say if you can roll a Counterbalance version it's worth keeping, otherwise it's garbage.
I got 3 Doctrine of passings from the Lighthouse
by TheeChaos , Monday, November 02, 2015, 10:48 (3404 days ago) @ WildthingVII
2 315s and a 312. At least I can infuse them into something just not sure what. It was rather irritating that everyone kept getting the pulse rifle or hand cannon, and i got 3 of the same gun, 2 of which had the exact same roll. GUH.
I guess all considered, I was able to get to the lighthouse 3 times, thats nothing to not be thankful for.
