Buying Taken King as a gift ??? (PS3) (Destiny)

by Monochron, Thursday, November 05, 2015, 15:20 (3402 days ago)

I'm hoping that this will be an easy question, but my searching skills are failing me.

I want to buy Taken King for my brother who plays on PS3. He has TDB and HoW and I really just want to purchase the digital download of TTK for his account. There is no "purchase as gift" option like on Steam or something, and I can't find a way to purchase a download code on Amazon like I expected.

I don't want to drop $50 on the Collectors edition, I just want the same thing that I bought for myself on 360, but I want to buy it for PS3. This can't be this hard right? I really want to throw my money at the screen here, but I can't figure out how. Any help?

I've always given gifts under the assumption that gift cards are not as meaningful as direct gifts. I'll go for it if there's really no other option but I just feel like it would be silly if you can't buy a piece of DLC for someone else. How could that benefit the sellers?

Alternatively, if you knew enough of his information, you could just buy it on his account. Or from his PS3. As long as he is logged into his PS3, you can add credit cards without account information. OR buy a gift card, add the cash, buy the game.

Yeah, I don't live near him unfortunately. Hhm, I'm considering the gift card route, just hoped to avoid it.

If it makes you feel better, most of the gifted Downloadable game things on systems that do support it are really just credit in that amount with a link to the game you selected.

Just get a physical card and put duct tape over it and sharpie in "THE TAKEN KING"

Has anyone bought a TTK PS3 Digital Download **code**?

Just wondering. Maybe they don't sell it or something... I remember there being weirdness with the 360 codes.

Not for TTK but I bought The Last of Us Remastered for PS4 as a download code off of Amazon. Cost me $15 and worked perfectly (it's weird... They can't email you the code but have to snail mail the physical code form from Sony to you).

I've bought codes from Amazon and gotten them instantly, but you can't buy The Taken King separately there. You can only get it from the PS store, which automatically gives it to your account.

What I would do is find out if Gamestop is still offering $20 for vanilla Destiny, and if they are, buy the legendary edition, which does come with digital codes for everything but vanilla Destiny (what is on the actual disc).

Even if Gamestop is not offering $20, you probably could sell all the other expansions and the disc and maybe even end up paying less than retail for just TTK expansion.
