Shaking My Head. Wow. (Destiny)
How's this for Movie of the Week?
A)I thought they got rid of stuff like this.
B)On my permanent record.
C)I bet this doesn't happen in Trials of Osiris, does it.

Easiest crucible rep you'll ever get :) Seriously though, that is some crazy matchmaking there. Gotta love netcode and the magic that makes it all work.
At least you got some loot

Heh
I had a similar thing happen a couple weeks ago. Game ended as I spawned in. 0 Deaths, 0 Kills, and I ended up with a Legendary Primary Engram. :)
Maybe next time you should land and help a bit
:P

I wonder if they all got dropped-in like you

Oh, Definitely.
I would've dropped on the map, and right before the Mercy timer hits zero, I pull a Bladedancer mod--on my Warlock--and instantly score a infinite 7th column and Phantom, perfectly nailing the 9,206 points needed to trounce 'em.
Boom!!

I wonder if they all got dropped-in like you
The game doesn't know any better, since it was obviously dumb enough to pull crap like that, but No. No, they didn't.

In my opinion, mid game drop ins are the current worst feature of Destiny PvP now that netcode has been marginally improved (it's close though).
B)On my permanent record.
Yup.

No, because Trials games are only between two set teams. There's no matchmaking for extra players if you go in short-handed, as far as I'm aware. If one team leaves, the other team wins the match outright. I suppose if your friends were two-manning trials, then you could join them mid-game and something like this could happen, but you would have to actively join your friends to make it so.
