Oryx has taken my alts. (Destiny)

I STILL haven't even touched any of my alts since TTK was released. I'm getting close, but still have a few quests that I want to finish first. I'm curious how many other people are in a similar situation and what do you still have to complete before you'll be ready to play with your alts?

Quests I want to complete before taking back my alts:
Touch of Malice (I'm not even sure if I have this quest yet)
A Sword Reforged (gotta get my crucible sword kills)
Path of the Striker (on the last step)
High Value Targets (?)
The Wolves of Mars (?)
A Jolly Holiday (? probably not)

Wow I'm in pretty much the exact same boat as you...

My main is a Titan and I haven't really touched me Warlock. Although I also haven't really played my warlock past the main missions and I Just started a Hunter.

But as for my Main, besides the Touch of Malice quest line, I'm in the same boat almost exactly.

I really want ToM, My Sword and The Jolly Shotgun, but the fact that the sword and shotgun takes PvP progress and I Loathe that so much. I really wish they would make a quest line where you had an interesting set of rules to fulfill in PvE like the Jolly Holiday quest line.

Haven't touched them (on either platform) and I've only beaten the new raid three times--twice on Xbox, once on Playstation. Much different than year one.

I leveled/lighted both of my alts to 300+ so I could raid and do Trials with them, but I haven't done any of the story missions with them. I actually still haven't even done the House of Wolves missions with my Titan. One of these days.

Touch of Malice (I'm not even sure if I have this quest yet)
A Sword Reforged (gotta get my crucible sword kills)
A Jolly Holiday (? probably not)

I haven't done the above on any of my characters, but I've done the following on all of them:

High Value Targets
The Wolves of Mars
Path of the Subclass

The Undying Mind seems to be the best strike for getting all those orbs, regardless of your subclass. Some of the Wolves of Mars/High Value Targets objectives occur in the same planetary order so you can sometimes save some time working on them concurrently.

The quest step where you have to do Court of Oryx: 6 Tier 1, 2 Tier 2, and 1 Tier 3 is good because it gives you a 300 light level artifact. I still need to do a T3 on my warlock but I've never gotten a t3 rune with her.

I haven;t touched my alts either, except to get the cutscenes when you unlock your subclass. I need to get the exotic sword, bit figured I'd do all three at once.

Don't sweat Jolly Holliday: I was able to do it just fine legit, but there are numerous ways to 'cheat' on the quest. Kills an deaths only count when you have the last word equipped, so I know some people just wait for heavy, equip last word, then go on a machine gun spree, un-equip last word, and repeat.

I've had all 3 characters up over 300 for a few weeks now. On my main character (Hunter) I've completed all the questlines except for a couple crucible quests. My Warlock and Titan have completed most of the quests as well, taking into account there are several questlines I'm not bothering with on my alts (Touch of Malice, crucible stuff, etc).

Overwhelmingly I've played my warlock.

My titan is over 300, but I'm on the regicide mission with him -- not quite done with the main questline.

Haven't even logged in with my hunter I don't think, not even to unlock the new subclass.

I don't think the new guns are any fun, and while the old ones are good up to level 36 or so, when I do the nightfall or heroic or whatever, I want to use guns that are fun, not adequate.

Hence, I only play on raid days. Haven't touched an alternative in weeks.

I'm feeling the same way about the weapons, and it's really starting to kill my enthusiasm for Destiny. I love TTK... it's great. But a huge part of what kept me playing year 1 so much were the fun and diverse weapons (in addition to the social aspects). In this regard, I find TTK severely lacking. Hardly any of the new weapons feel unique or particularly special in any way. Some are more effective that others, but very few stand out in any particular way. Most of the raid weapons suck, the Trials and Iron Banner weapons (so far) are either underwhelming or just like a bunch of other weapons. All that plus the lack of elemental primaries and I find TTK's selection of weapons just doesn't get me excited to play the way the weapons in year 1 did.

At first I hated the TTK weapon pool. Now I'm getting adjusted to it. I have a few weapons I really like, but they are also pretty popular with others as well. I'm really surprised at the lack of diversity in Archetypes in the different groups of weapons. Where are the heavy hitting pulse rifles? Where are the Medium hitting Scouts like Mida? Are there any new machineguns not in the Ruin Wake archetype that don't completely suck? Where's the Jolder's Hammer equivalent? Or Corrective Measure? The only RL worth a crap is the Suros legendary and it is beastly. Why are all the sidearms essentially identical?

I think I have fewer exotics than I used to because you have to do special missions to get them, and I don't usually bother with them. I'll get around to them eventually. Most of the year 2 version of year 1 exotics work great for crucible anyway and that's mostly what I play. I also use alot of stuff to infuse my best gear so that also leaves me with less variety than before.

Same here - Destiny is back in "maintenance mode" for me. This is the last week I'll run all 3 characters through the hard raid; starting next week I'm just going to do one hard mode raid for fun per week.

I still haven't completed the hard mode, and I don't see myself doing it any time soon. This whole "hard-mode up to Oryx a bunch of times so everyone can get enough gear to actually beat Oryx" situation is totally bogus.

Unpossible. Remember, forever 29 and grinding is a thing of the past. :)

I really do like the hard mode raid up until the oryx fight. That fight is borderline torture.

Same. One thing I've been wondering since my first time through King's Fall: Is this raid too long? I mean, I love it. I think it has fantastic pacing, and each segment is memorable in its own way. But by the time my group makes it to Oryx (on hard mode), we've been at it for close to 3 hours and we're all exhausted. Yes, there are checkpoints so we can do it over multiple nights, but this long after the launch of TTK its getting tougher to find a group of 6 to commit to a multi-night raid.

I think it's too long. I used to like doing two crotas or a crota and a vog. Now, one Kings Fall wipes me out. And, the mechanics are so complicated, we can't bullshit while we're doing it. I can't tell you the number of stories I've left half finished because the raid requires so much communication you can't just talk for a while.

That's an interesting point... part of the fun of the raids is the social aspect. You can zone out and chat with your friends a bit. Even though my group has normal King's Fall down pretty well at this point, we still need to focus on communicating about what's going on. That's cool in another way, but it does feel more exhausting because of it.

King's Fall is a truly great Raid, the first few times. And I can see it being fun for a bit, if you're the type of person that really loves nailing the mechanics perfectly and trying to get that really amazing run.

But if I had to choose a raid to do right now for fun, I'd easily pick Vault of Glass. It can be done relatively quickly, even without cheesing, and like Funkmon said, you can bullshit with your friends the entire time. You can do that a bit for King's Fall, but so much of it relies on everyone nailing their timing and callouts that it's much less convenient for a laid back experience.

I had been expecting something cool like once you've passed the raid as a group, you could open up a new, shorter path that would skip ahead. I know WoW raids have done this for some time -- it's not linear, and you can choose to fight or skip some bosses. How cool would that be if you could take the right passage or the left, depending on what the group wanted to do that night?
