Iron Banner glitch didn't work this time. (Destiny)

There's an update today - it's not purely IB-related, but they dropped it at the same time, which effectively blocks anyone from using the glitch. :)
Ah, well. (It's the one time I've actually tried it; I'm only here for half of the week, so I thought it might be my only chance at level 5 gear.)

Same here. I'm going to play a crap ton tonight and tomorrow night and then half the day on Monday and hope to hit my characters to rank 5. Just make sure you pick up bounties each day you can, even if you don't play that day.

Last month, i only played IB on 1 character. On the last day, I logged into my third character and grabbed all the bounties (dailies and weeklies). I didn't care about clogging up precious bounty space, since i spend most of my time on my primary.
Hopefully the weekly bounties are different this time (and hopefully the old weeklies are still viable). Then i can run IB on my 3rd character, level it up faster due to the extra bounties, and then run my main character with the "catch up" buff.

At least one of the old weekly bounties are the same. I had one left over on my Titan and I couldn't pick up all three weekly bounties on that character this time.
didn't work...this time
all the weekly bounties were exactly the same, so i couldn't pick up any extras. all but 1 of the dailies were the same, so i was able to pick up 1 extra daily bounty.
Theoretically, saving IB bounties will work from one IB to the next, so long as they are different.

what i should've done...
Last time, i logged in on my 3rd character at the end and grabbed the bounties. I should have logged in every single day and grabbed any that i didn't have.
According to ironbanner.info there are a total of 9 different daily bounties. If you don't intend on playing IB on all three characters, then check in every day and hoard all the dailies. Then when the next IB rolls around, your alt will have 12 IB bounties (9 dailies and 3 weeklies) on the first day.

If I understand correctly, the patch was pushed out at the same time. You couldn't pull the glitch because you would have been kicked to get the patch.

Yeah, but that's their new pattern; they time an update to coincide with the start of Iron Banner, it's an easy way to force everyone to a new tower. :)
