IB Weapons thoughts (Destiny)

Hey, so, I'm a hand cannon / high impact scout fan. I had written off hand cannons pretty much after I hit "end game" TTK, and have not been disappointed. They just don't get the job done anymore like other guns.

However, I've been using a Finnala's Peril that I picked up via IB this week. It's a pretty amazing 3-shot kill HC in the crucible and surprisingly effective. I think it's big draw is the stock roll has good range/stability and it's aim assist is high, so you'll more often than not hit what you're aiming at. It feels a bit faster than timur's lash but still hits pretty hard.

If you like hand cannons it's worth consideration.

Nirwen's Mercy I had a rough time with for a while. I couldn't hit anything, it seemed almost too stable to me, with less benefit from aim assist. Braced frame is an ideal perk and third eye and outlaw are great. I nearly ditched it last go around, but tried it again the past couple of days because I kept getting killed with it.

Then I started pretending it was a scout rifle, and that changed everything, and made it much much better.

Close range it's rough to use. Medium to med-long range it's insane, especially when holding choke points. I was out-sniping people left and right in medium-long range sniper areas.

I may have just gotten a bunch of lower skill groups in a row in the wee early hours of the morning... but it seemed to just click last night and worked very well.

as an all-around pulse rifle, I think red death still beats it out, but for med-long sight ranges (i.e. the right map) nirwen's works wonders.

I like the idea of hand cannons, but it will take a lot of work to get me to not suck as much as I currently do with them. I just don't have the composure in battle :-)

Nice job!

I have not given the IB weapons much of a shot. I got the vendor roll hand cannon and machine gun, just havent played with them yet. First IB I got the IronWreath and Nirwen's I have used those alot. Nirwen's is definitely a top tier pulse.

I am more excited about the armor than the weapons. The fact that you can't reroll kind of kills it for me. I got the new felwinters to drop, terrible rolls. I saw that Bigarm got one with ALL the range increasing perks. It's not that its unfair or anything, but I could potentially play IB all week, and never get a good viable roll on a gun. At least the light levels are decent, and there are alot of drops.

i love nirwen's mercy, been using it almost exclusively.

I got a 317 Weyloran's March (sniper) last night from a lvl 5 package. It's low impact/high ROF. After looking around, it has the highest base aim assist (79) out of all year two snipers. From what i can find online, the short-gaze scope adds 15 (+-5) Aim Assist, so this will probably be the go-to sniper once Lord Saladin starts selling it. My drop also has unflinching, explosive rounds and "partial refund" (assists have the chance to return ammo to the mag).

By comparison, 1000-yard stare's aim assist is 56, and the raid sniper is 69.

I've never been much of a sniper, i'm interested in leveling this one up and giving it a shot.

EDIT: reworded the short-gaze slope stat.

That is just the kind of sniper I need.

Where do you find these actual #'s for the aim assist?

Nevermind, found a link:

Hmm, maybe I should try my Hereafter in the crucible.

Might have to give this a shot, didn't know it had the highest Aim Assist. It will probably be great for regular crucible/IB. Being able to one shot the revived players in trials is something you cannot put a price on.

I don't think it has enough impact to one shot on revives, even with headshots. It's super low impact, maybe even lower than Praedyth's Revenge.

Yeah, it's damage is 13, Praedyth's is 16. But it does have the second highest Rate of Fire.

It doesn't have the highest RoF? Shouldn't it shoot faster than any other sniper?

Nope, according to Planet Destiny It is the second highest at 40 where as the highest is 43. There are only two at 43 and they have an impact of 10

I know, I intended that to sound as the draw back from using it. The reason I wouldn't use it is because it can't one shot revived players.

That HMG

by Kahzgul, Monday, November 23, 2015, 21:19 (3383 days ago) @ slycrel

Qullim's Terminus is so solid that I think most people will ignore the IB HMG (especially because it's the exact same archetype). They may be right to do so, but I do want to point out that the particular HMG for sale has a roll which lets you change it from max (yes, max) stability to very high range and impact with low stability, effectively letting you mix and match rolls to make an HMG which exactly fits what you like in one. It's a must have if you don't have Qullim's Terminus and a "probably will regret not having" even if you do.
