So, I'm getting an Xbone this month...about 360->One (Destiny)

I bought a physical copy of Destiny for 360 when it first came out...can I still get the xbone one for free, and does my DLC transfer without hassle?

If so, do I need to do anything special?

I wasn't planning on getting one anytime soon but Grandmas will be Grandmas!

The free upgrade was a limited-time offer with the last-gen digital versions. Also, DLC doesn't transfer.

Your best bet for Xbone is a new copy of Taken King.

Year One DLC does transfer. When I received my Xbox One and a copy of Destiny for it this summer, I didn't have to pay for TDB and HOW again.

The Taken King isn't a part of that deal though, so a TTK edition of Destiny is still your best price entry to have all the content.

I picked up TTK for 35 bucks. It's getting cheaper.

Wasn't that a Black Friday deal?

I got the Legendary edition on XBone for $40, but that offer is gone now. Unless you are talking about some way to buy only TTK and not need the full game?

Congrats!

When we bought our Xbones through Amazon, they had a deal that included TTK Legendary (or other games you could choose). Took a little hunting and sifting through versions to find it. You might look into that if you don't mind a physical copy.
