I miss the light level field in FTB (DBO)

I realize that many people didn't use them, but they were helpful at times.

I guarantee you that I never once put an accurate number in that field. :P I just can never remember what my level actually is.

I usually put in an approximation.

I'm not necessarily saying that I don't believe you... but I would like to know the specifics of when you actually found them useful...?

Knowing the approximate level of the team prompted me to suggest a harder activity that one time. :)

It's really only of interest when light levels are variable (but I assume that most people have lower level characters even late into a season--I've got one character on each platform I haven't even woken up yet). Times like now it's missed (help me here, cheapLEY) because people are all over the map level-wise.

I think it's good info when you can get it, and there have been times when I've specifically tried to recruit players who I know are high level because I think we need them based in part on the levels of the rest of the team.

It was nice to have as just a FYI (and especially if I was bringing a significantly lower level Guardian than everyone else). You’re right that right now is the time where it’s most needed. I’ve played with folks that are basically maxed out, and with plenty that haven’t broken through the 340 wall. It’d just be nice to know. On the other hand, it was at the point where most just left it blank anyway. I guess I’m more just curious as to why it was removed in the first place.

It turned out that most people were just leaving it blank, which meant that it would default to "max light" even if the person wasn't at max.

And generally speaking, after a couple months into a release, it's a useless stat anyway because most everyone is at (or near) the cap. The only real time that it's of use is right now, in the month or two after a release while everyone is gaining power at different rates. And if it's important to the team, you can just put your Light level into the Comments field...

(My long-standing goal that I just haven't had time to dig into is to integrate the Bungie.net API and have the system automatically pull your Guardian's info when you're singing up for an event. That way you can just select the specific character that you're going to run with and that character's info will just appear.)

I'd love an opportunity to contribute in some way that's manageable.

Well, I miss it. I concede that to the extent it's of any interest at all, it might be more interesting to people who regularly use FTB to publicly recruit from the community. That's a tiny minority for all I know.

Like when you don’t find out until you are in orbit that a certain someone has to put on their highest and least familiar gear to barely make recommended Light.

Ha, it might be more beneficial to have a field "Do you have the latest expansions?" since there's always someone who doesn't. That person is also the person that doesn't realize you have to have the expansions to partake in that activity and when the event is blocked and everyone is asking "Does everyone have the expansions?" that person still doesn't know what's going on and just says "yep"

Then after 5 minutes of confusion and party swapping that person finally understands what's going on and fesses up. Everybody groans and gives stressful laughs in an effort to not hurt the feelings of the doofus.

Then there's the awkward conversation of "soo....do we still want to do this? Should we just do something else??" in hopes that the doofus says "I'll just back out and catch you next time" but they never do and it ruins the whole night. Everyone does a backup activity and say it's fun...but it's not. It's not.

I have literally never experienced that.

Well, that’s not true. We experienced it multiple times when we were playing Mass Effect 3 . . .

Hey are we going to play Mass Effect 3 again soon?

LOL, I had the same thought.

Any. Time. Like seriously any time. I'll take a sick day for that.
