New Supers (mechanic spoilers?) (Destiny)

by Harmanimus @, Tuesday, June 12, 2018, 12:21 (2145 days ago)

So on display:
Titan Striker - Thundercrash
Fist of Havoc as a controllable missile.

Warlock Dawnblade - Well of Radiance
Healing/empowering field. (super rift)

Hunter Nightstalker - Spectral Blades
Void Blade Dancer with cloaks and wallhacks.

I’m really interested to find out the rest of the details of the subclass changes.

Is this finally the Hunters getting a ranged mass destruction weapon like nova bomb and fire hammers? Something that can be spammed from far off and destroy everything from a safe distance?

No, it’s pretty much literally a Bladedancer. Draws Void knives, gets cloaking and some level of enemy detection theough geometry. I don’t think they have the new Solar super on display.

They showed a few seconds of 'Fire Knives' in the reveal ViDoc.

That did look promising for a mass damage super. Looking forward to see what it can do.

It's probably not how I'm imaging it, but it sure sounds awesome.

I would have liked to see rotation on the supers such that each class got a damage version of their current "support class" and a support version in one of the damage elements.

This would allow more flexiblity during the various burns in strikes and such so that Void burn doesn't lock nightstalkers and Titans into support, and solar burn doesn't force warlocks as the sole support.

The Hunters got this to some extent, now having a void support and a void combat super. Titans already have an offensive version of the bubble. Warlocks however should have had an arc version of support as well because we currently don't have an arc support based class.

See I don't know about that. If every class has damage and support supers at their disposal, it erodes that already minor differences between how the classes play.

Additionally, the new Hunter Arc class appears to be defensive/support from what we've been shown.

The method of support differs, driving different behaviors even in the same element. Tethers play differently from Bubbles, for example. So the classes still feel unique and bring different advantages to the table.
