P.S. For giggles I tried to post this on the Pfhorums over at marathon.bungie.org. Couldn't remember my account and tried to create a new one. I've yet to receive my validation email. :(

For what it's worth, pfhorums has zero affiliation to bungie.org; we've just linked to them because it's a still-active community.

I don't even know who runs it.

Yeah, yeah, I know. But it's purty .

[I recognized it was your voice on that video. Dude! That dig at the end was harsh!]

There's a version of Aleph One now that uses the original engine (or an approximation of it) for Marathon 1. They could ostensibly practice their grenade jumping now :-)

Marathon 25 years later on iOS

Pretty crazy Marathon is 25 years old. While Aleph One is an option on PC, I like the idea of running through them all again on iOS (or iPad OS really), especially now with controller support. I just can’t manage to get my brain around regular controller stick layout. I need an inversion option.

Maybe it will come full circle and I will be able to rock some keyboard and mouse on an iPad to play Marathon! Never would have seen that coming.

Well, the iPad pro can use a trackpad now so maybe…

But I dunno. It would be nice for Bungie not to dwell on the past and redo Marathon. There's just no way they can do anything even close to what Square did for FFVII remake for example.

I heard back from the developer of the iOS port, you can invert the controller y-axis, just not via ‘Preferences’ in the app, it is within the iOS settings menu. They are looking at keyboard and mouse support for iPad OS too. I’m enjoying running through Marathon again for the first time in about 20 years.

Times change, but it was just under 7 years between the release of the first Marathon game and release of Halo.

We are not that far off going into our 7th year of Destiny. Those seven years after Marathon’s release really were something.
