If you pay attention, anytime a teammate crosses a loading zone with you, they actually stand on their Sparrow for a second. Pretty cool that you can pull this off yourself.

Also works with Pikes and Interceptors, FYI. Surprisingly hard to aim without a reticle, though.
The only way to ride
From now on this is the only way I will ride a sparrow.
Tried this last night and...
... it took me an age to get it right. It was sooooo much fun though. Unfortunately on my fireteam mates screen it looked as if I were riding my sparrow normally. THAT fact is a bug. Fix yo shit, Bungie.

I was under the impression if you rode it through a loading zone then others could see you surfing.
