Just a few questions:

  • What kind of CD was it?
  • How long ago did your burn it?
  • How long did it take?
  • Was it a rewritable CD or just a regular one?
  • Did you use a marker to write anything on top of it?
  • What software did you use to burn it?
  • Was it an audio CD or a data CD?
  • Did you burn it on accident or on purpose?
  • Would you actually call it burnt or just "really well done"?
  • How did it taste afterwards?

Thank you for your time. :p

Actually, the Compact Disc is a pretty remarkable invention. The idea of using lasers (lasers!) in a consumer product a couple years before I was born is kind of crazy to me.

And you say "easily scratched," but a CD has a fair amount of redundancy built-in (for Red Book, it was 8 bytes of error correction data for every 24 bytes of actual data), which means it was a frak ton more reliable than other media of the day. Remember broken tapes clogging your player? Yeah, that was fun.

I can only dream of having a tape deck in my car! I'm stuck with a 6 disc changer and no other audio input which means I can only listen to a fraction of my music and in only one order. Want to sort by Artist or Playlist? Forgetaboutit! :/

Moral of the story? Lasers are cool, but Magnets are much more useful.

They could have 8 yottabytes of error correction and it wouldn't help them not get stolen...

I don't actually think you are a nazi.

You could actually save some time by combining these.

I don't actually think you are a nazi or a bastard.

I don't actually think you are a nazi bastard.

Additionally, you should use a contraction on "you are" if you're going to do it with "do not".

I don't actually think you're a nazi bastard.

That said, both sentences were grammatically correct! Welcome aboard! Here's your armband.

[*]What kind of CD was it?

Audio

[*]How long ago did your burn it?

Just a few weeks ago! My work car just has a CD player - no USB or external input capability.

[*]How long did it take?

2 or 3 minutes, tops. I remember when I had a 1x CD burner - it used to take however long the CD was, plus a few minutes extra. Progress, man.

[*]Was it a rewritable CD or just a regular one?

Standard CD-R. Believe it or not, some audio CD players don't behave well with CD-RW discs. So, as cheap as CD-Rs are, I just stick with them when making audio discs.

[*]Did you use a marker to write anything on top of it?

Yup. Artist/album name.

[*]What software did you use to burn it?

Brasero

[*]Was it an audio CD or a data CD?

Audio

[*]Did you burn it on accident or on purpose?

I never do anything by accident.

[*]Would you actually call it burnt or just "really well done"?

I would call it a reminder of the depressingly rapid pace of technology.

[*]How did it taste afterwards?

It tasted like Paramore, which is to say delicious.

  • About 5 minutes.
  • I tell ya, they don't even make rewritable ones anymore.
  • No. I knew what it was.
  • iTunes.
  • Sorta both. It was a Data CD composed entirely of audio.
  • Takes a lot of steps to burn something--no way it can be accidental.
  • Burnt.
  • I no longer gently lick CD's any more. They're desensitized.
