Technology and Light (Destiny)

Most of the topics I've read have mode a point of differentiating Technology and Light as separate things. But whose to say light isn't just advanced technology only known to the speaker? I mean, just think of our past, most advanced technology was considered magic to someone who knew nothing about it...

If Light is just technology, it could be that some of the other races of a smaller grasp of how "Light" works and is able to simulate it. Just not to the extent that the traveler is able to.
