Also, there has been a couple times that truth's tracking actually keeps me from getting the hit.

truth has proximity detonations, so you just have to decide if you want tracking or not. Don't scope in if there is too much geometry between you and where you're aiming (and hope the proximity gets them). If there is a lot of geometry, but you are out in the open (no geometry above you), lock on and then shoot straight up at the sky.

I do this on rusted lands all the time. Makes it easy to stand in the water at C, and hit the sniper on the storage tank near A. The rockets go way up in the air, then come down like a javelin.
