They aren't as big a deal, at least the public acknowledgement are not. Sex in particular isn't as taboo to even practice, but it's even less important to hide from kids. Drugs are kinda a big deal (they don't have a "war" though), but again, they don't try and hide it from kids or pretend it doesn't exist.
