#Funkmonwasright (Getting rid of my Xbox One) (Off-Topic)
Funkmon warned me that getting a PS4 when I already had an Xbox One was stupid.
You're just going to buy something that's functionally identical to an item you already own.
It's been about four months now since I ignored him and bought a PS4, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. But I haven't touched my Xbox One for more than a few hours since then. I just got a notification that my Xbox Live is set to renew next month, which made me really consider if I should let it do so. I've decided no, I shouldn't, and I think I'm going to sell my Xbox One. With the Xbox One S coming soon, and Scorpio coming next year, prices are probably going to drop even further soon, so now seems to be the time to do it.
The going rate is right around $200, it seems. That's low enough to give me pause and make me consider just keeping it, but the fact there's not a single exclusive I'm interested in coming to it until the next Halo makes me feel like $200 is better than the absolutely nothing it's doing for me right now. I don't have enough game time to split between two consoles, so I guess it's time to let it go.
So, Funkmon, you were right--having two gaming consoles didn't make sense for me. I just chose the wrong console at the beginning.
Obviously there's not much of a reason any of you need to know this, but, other than CruelLEGACEY, I've still not played with anyone on the PS4 side. Really, I guess this post serves as a notification and goodbye post for the only folks I've actually played Destiny with. It's been a lot of fun, and I'll always remember Blackstar and Co. showing me through Vault of Glass for the first time, and finally doing a blind raid with Kermit's crew. Maybe you'll see me back around if Scorpio turns out to be worth having.
Got rid of mine already...
Well, I gave it to my siblings a couple of weeks back.. Their 360 finally gave out (an original Elite!), and after playing some of Halo 5's Firefight, I finally gave up on the idea of really getting into it (especially with the last remaining Xbone exclusives moving over to PC), though I didn't plan on making a Cody post about it.
I've definitely enjoyed playing around with Claude, Mal, Squid, and other folks, but I'm not in love with the idea of getting Rise of Iron on the Xbone and juggling six characters for another year.
I can definitely borrow it back every once in a while, but other than Destiny, I haven't bought an Xbone game outside of Halo 5 since the system launched, and I don't plan to get anything else for the foreseeable future.
It's been real fun playing with the Xbone folks, though. Hopefully some of them make the jump over to PS4 as well.

Destiny is the only sticking point for me. I've got one PS4 character (a Titan, the class I didn't really engage with on Xbox One), in the mid 280s. Losing all my Xbox characters is rough (My Y1 Moment of Triumph!), but ultimately a price I'm willing to pay, I guess. It's abundantly clear that the complete Destiny experience is only happening on PS4, so it seems smart to cut my losses and fully commit to making the jump sooner rather than later.
I've just got enough other hobbies and things to sink money into--two consoles just doesn't make sense anymore (if it ever did). I wish I had overcome my 360-fanboyism and just made the switch to PS4 from the start, but oh well.
If you have time this weekend, I'll help you level an alt.
I've seen you online, but rarely. We should play.
Cool.

I don't remember ever seeing cheapLEY online. I'd love to play with him.
I've also been thinking about starting over on my Hunter (for lulz). Maybe we can level Alts together.
See you in 6 months with your "I bought an Xbox" thread. :D

I was just having the opposite thought
Outside of a game or two I haven't really purchased any games for my PS4. It just sits there and I occasionally fire it up to play stuff that came free with PS+.
I suppose it's just where people are playing. All my friends are on XBL and that's just where I'm going to gravitate to.
Oh and the elite controller helps.
I'm probably not going to actually get rid of it... I still have plenty of games TO play on it. It's more of a when the VR/4K generation drops, I'm probably going to go for the Scorpio over the Neo. It sounds like my current PS4 will do just fine playing whatever random local multiplayer Indie games I end up getting for it.
The question is, is the new Zelda, that finally looks interesting for the first time since OOT, worth the NX?

It's not very often. I'm still having to tether through my phone. I occasionally cart the PS4 to a friend's or family's house to get it online and grab updates or buy things.
:(
*Sniff... gunna miss ya dude.
Dat Zelda game
I'm currently on the hypest of levels about it, but down here getting a new console is a major decision...
I hope not! At least not until Scorpio!
I am definitely a creature of impulse though. ):
Speaking of free on PS+
Go download Furi. It's one part shmup, one part twitch fighter and one part... I dunno, Dark Souls? (It's got that immediately-punishing-yet-ultimately-forgiving thing going on, at least).
I'm about halfway through and it's pretty high on my GOTY contenders so far.
Speaking of free on PS+
Haven't given it a go yet, have been looking forward to it based off of some of Edge's coverage.
I tried to tell everybody!
I did! I posted on a busy day, though, and it got buried pretty quickly.
I've still only played through the first to bosses, but I loved those fights. I'll have to try and jump back into it soon.

I raid more on the PS4 than I do on the Xbox these days, and you're welcome to join us. Increasingly it's looking like I'm the only fool trying to play Destiny on two platforms.
I knew it felt like Afto Samurai!
Not the characters, weirdly, but the pacing. There are some great moments of quiet between each boss that reminded me a lot of AS too (not to mention the penultimate boss fight, which trims the game down into a straight-up samurai showdown).
A few people have complained anout the downtime between fights, but Super Pro Tip: Press X to auto-walk between boss fights; Suddenly instead of a long (slightly awkwardly controlling) walk, you're treated to a gorgeous scenery-porn cutscene.
Viewed as "calm before the storm" cutscenes I think they work rather nicely. Couple that with the building of the music as you progress towards the boss, punctuated by The Voice's voiceover and you have something rather pleasant. (World 3's audio in particular reminds me of a musical theatre production in the vein of Jeff Wayne or the like).

If it makes you feel better, I'm actually higher Light on Xbone than on PS4. If I didn't get rid of the Xbone on a whim, I'd still be leveling my characters until RoI, at which point I might have considered buying the expansion. Glad that I'm not doing that, though, since I've had more opportunity to play way more games that I've neglected; Grim Fandango has been a great experience, as is Uncharted 4's multiplayer. Fought a couple of bosses on Furi, but it's not my kind of game, might go through it on Easy because the enemy designs and writing/atmosphere is pretty great. I've even given Paragon and Hawken some playtime (both free for PS+); I enjoyed Paragon way more than I thought I would, and Hawken's not so bad for a Free-to-play, though not something I'd get into.
Ironically, cutting my consoles in half has helped me enjoy gaming in a broader spectrum. I've barely made time to squeeze in some Destiny, but I'd definitely still be there with you juggling the consoles. Ultimately, it's just too much time that you could be spending enjoying other games in the backlog.
After using 940 GB one month Sprint told me to stop. Beware!
No

That was a large part of my motivation to. Only having one console means fewer new games to try and keep up with. I obviously have a bit of a self control problem in that regard, so every bit helps in that regard.

That's a shame. What timezone are you in? I'm normally on late (depending on your timezone) Tuesday nights. I'm talking 8:00-10:30pm PDT.

I'm in the Central Timezone. The main things that I moved out to the country and can't get cable internet out where I live. The prices and quality of anything I can get make it basically not worth it. I tether through my phone, and have played Destiny with it, but it's not reliable enough that I would ever party up with someone to try and accomplish anything. I play sometimes if I go to my parent's. They live about 25 minutes away so I visit them pretty frequently and sometimes cart my PS4 with me. I suspect I'll do this on the weekends when Rise of Iron hits.

Well, maybe we'll be able to play during the Rise of Iron. I'm in the Mountain timezone, so we're only an hour off. I play occasionally on weekends, more so when there's new content.

I keep forgetting this, and it explains why I rarely see you.
Look forward to playing with you again eventually.
