one single death, even on normal mode, almost always spells a wipe. There's no chance to recover. No chance for thrilling heroics. You either do it right or you do it again. (Almost) no exceptions.

This right here is the exact thing that ruins an encounter for me. The less forgiving it is, the more I hate it. On the flip side, an encounter that allows someone to be there hero is exhilarating, and it also means we can bring our terrible friends into the raid and they can have fun, too.
