It creates an awkward spot in the logic, but that's also a change which doesn't create astronomical qualitative differences in player's limitations. It's like having a lower-quality pair of running shoes versus trying to outrun a bicycle. People on base gamepads can still basically have fun and interesting competition against people on elite controllers.

I just don't think limiting people's options is a good thing for any reason.

In practice, there's no way to not limit someone's options.
