Destiny 2 beta updates just as slowly on PS4 as D1 did (Destiny)

So there was a 1.2 GB patch to the Destiny 2 beta today, apparently. From what I can tell, it added a "preorder now!" splash screen and selectable item to the director.

But I take umbrage with the fact that Bungie has apparently still not figured out how downloading works on the PS4. This patch did not download in the background at all. I was at work until 11:30pm, PST. When I woke up my sleeping PS4, it had to "prepare for download" for 20 minutes. FOR THE BETA. Then it had to run the download, which took another 8 minutes. Then it had to apply the patch, which took another 2 minutes. Meanwhile I've been getting Horizon Zero Dawn updates for weeks that happen while my system is asleep and I just turn it on to a brand new version.

Figure it out, Bungie!

This is the same problem D1 had with patches, and it sucks. I really, really expected Bungie to sort this crap out for D2, and I'm very disappointed that they didn't. If this teeny tiny beta takes 20 minutes to "prepare" I can only imagine how long the full game will take. An hour? Two? I do not want D2 to turn into "patch day means I'm not playing the game at all tonight" like D1 was. That's not fun at all. Especially when every other PS4 game I own seems to be able to download in the background just fine while the PS4 is asleep.

Please, Bungie: Call Sony, ask them how to make background patching a thing, and then make it a thing!
