During "Crunch" time, The snack bar was always stocked with at least a dozen of these.

Fortunately, I have a fast metabolism.

Sugar does more than just weight gain.

elevates triglycerides
increases harmful LDL (so-called bad cholesterol)
promotes the buildup of fat around organs (visceral fat)
increases blood pressure
makes tissues insulin-resistant, a precursor to diabetes
increases the production of free radicals, energetic compounds that can damage DNA and cells.

The American Heart Association recommends limiting the amount of sugar you get from sugar-sweetened drinks, pastries, desserts, breakfast cereals

I was working in a post facility recently that had goodies ad snacks galore. It was very very hard to resist, but I forced myself to make a lunch every day and drink only water. My assistant editor did not. He gained about 10 lbs in 2 months before following my lead.
