Killing the Past (Destiny)

Bungie seems completely set on forging forward while not leaving behind any remnants of the past. Forget Kylo Ren ;-p

I don't understand why this is such a big deal.

Bungie leadership apparently disliked the original story of Destiny so much that they were willing to throw away years worth of work and ship the mess that was Destiny 1 instead. Why wouldn't they try to kill that past, leave it all behind. You seem to be continually surprised by it, and I don't understand why.

I wish we could see that original vision of Destiny, but we can't, and it's gone. And much like Star Wars, it's better to accept that and experience the new stuff in good faith, rather than hoping for some return to some original glory.
