Can you provide any examples where this has happened before? Every other game that relies on servers dies when the servers are shut off.
It wasn't a game that relied on servers, but Bungie did previously open-source the Marathon engine. It's not too far of a stretch to think they might someday open-source the destiny server code. I mean, probably not for many years, but it's possible.
