THAB 8.16.18 (Destiny)
Starts off by mentioning that they're sending a crew to Gamescom in Germany.
They talk about Gambit, which will have a ranking system, Infamy. Increase Infamy by completing Gambit matches--wins earn you more points than losses, but you won't lose Infamy. Infamy earns you rewards (assuming it's just like Valor and Glory work with Shaxx). They also said they're taking feedback from Valor into consideration when designing Infamy. Each rank will have three tiers, allowing for shorter term goals that can be completed over a few sessions, rather than weeks. Infamy has win streaks, which caps at 5 games. There will also be Gambit bounties that rotate daily, with a weekly bounty for large amounts of Infamy once you reach Rank 50.
They detail some Crucible changes to Valor and Glory, which I won't summarize. Interestingly, Redrix's Claymore is going away next season. You can still use it if you earned it, but you won't be able to earn it anymore. They're replacing it with Redrix's Broadsword. Once you've earned the Broadsword once, random roll versions of the gun will be able to drop from regular Crucible Engrams. The will always have Outlaw+Desperado, but the other perks will be random. It sounds like it's effectively the same gun, but it doesn't have the lore and exclusive emblem that Redrix's Claymore has.
Next they talk about the social aspect of the game.
In Forsaken, when you join a Strike, Gambit match, or Crucible match in matchmaking, the team will stay together until people leave. So if you join a Strike with two randos, you'll play the next strike with those two randos, unless someone leaves. Taht's how it worked in D1, isn't it? It does not apply to Competitive Crucible.
Clan XP is changing pretty drastically. Hawthorne will now offer daily bounties for Clan XP. Once you hit Rank 50, she will offer weekly bounties that require you to team up with clanmates to accomplish.
They're also trying to make clan perks more interesting, with a few exmaples:
- Rank 3: Increased resilience when you’re in a fireteam with clanmates.
- Rank 5: Grants a chance to receive additional Etheric and Baryon resources when collecting them in the Reef.
- Rank 6: The weekly clan milestone also grants a Masterwork Core.
Crucible Labs returns next week with a new mode: Scorched. You get a Scorch Cannon, and you get Scorch Cannon--everyone gets a Scorch Cannon!
Player Support Report, Movie of the Week, and Nightfall Scores end the update as usual.
