You know, i too agree with what you say: though, i only roughly translated it as well, but, in comparison, you're kinda close. I took latin class and agree that your speculations may also be true. if you wish to further this investigation, i reccommend you contacting Ms Julie Rosser, from Jefferson County High School, she is the latin teacher there, maybe she can help even further.
