Falling behind, seeing how the powerful engram system was working, and knowing the game was going free to play… all that together was what made me decide to quit.

I can't remember how any of that leveling stuff worked anymore, it's changed so many times.

You could only power up via powerful engrams, which you got by doing weekly activities, or by doing all the daily activities. There may have been a few others as well. But if you miss a day / week, the opportunity was gone. No matter how much you played, you could not 'catch up' from missing a week.
