Well, they actually said "Best-selling new IP." (Destiny)

The article title is more than a bit misleading. Of course, even being the best-selling new IP is probably impossible, as some of the best-selling games ever that are the first entries in their series have sold many, many units. Wii Sports is officially the best-selling game ever, and Super Mario Bros. is second place. Both were new IPs. Destiny probably has no real chance of selling the 40+ million it needs to beat SMB, but less the over 80 million it would need to beat Wii Sports. Even if you were to ignore pack-in titles, that would leave Tetris and the original Pokemon video game, both of which sold over 30 million copies. If you go further and don't include games for handhelds, then Destiny does stand a chance of becoming the best-selling new IP that's A) not originally bundled, and B) designed for consoles instead of handhelds. It would have to beat Gran Turismo, and to do that it would need to reach 11 million copies, which I think it could do.
