Destiny Release Date Lottery: Conclusion (Destiny)

Hey look, the gang is all here.

As some may recall, I was lucky enough to win the Destiny Release Date Lottery! Thanks so much to Xenos for the idea and graciously gifting me a white, special edition Destiny PS4. Xenos is a super nice guy. In addition to him giving a stranger a PS4, I was able to meet him & eat lunch with him in person in Seattle at PAX this year.

I also bought another copy of Destiny for 360 at a midnight release, because I'm obsessed and I have some IRL friends who were going to be on that system. I've been playing on 360 (Level 25) but I finally have the PS4 all set up and ready to go.

My condensed take on Destiny:

  • Story: Should have made more sense... I would like it if it were less all-over-the-place. I will be interested to see how much story content the expansions have.
  • Voice Acting: I am a fan of all the voice acting, but everyone sounds like they're on Valium or about to lay down for an afternoon nap.
  • Shooter Gameplay, Music, Visuals: Impeccable.
  • Tower: I like spending time here, particularly late at night.
  • Strikes: I like the strikes, although some of the bosses seem too hard to kill (primarily the Devil Walker; the fight just doesn't seem dynamic enough to warrant it being that long.)
  • Crucible: I mostly play Control, which I really like. The normal Clash variant seems aimless since the maps are very large and it can take a while to find the enemy.
  • Overall: I like it. Thumbs up.

It's been interesting to see what everyone thinks about the game so far. Whether people like it, love it, or hate it, there's a lot of deep analysis going on here that I enjoy.

Finally, thanks again, Xenos! I look forward to playing with DBO'ers soon!

I like how the Control gametype changes how people move about the map as opposed to Clash. I wish they had a 6-player version of Skirmish though. I like the addition of respawning your allies.
