You're not missing anything now that they ruined the event. You already have Legendary stuff. You get no more Ascendant Shards. You seriously have no need to even touch the bounties or this thing now.
That's like saying there's no reason to Patrol since the Loot Cave was shut down. Obviously this stuff was not intended for Shard farming.
In other words, nothing was ruined, --per design, there was no reason for you to do the event in the first place. Instead, a goof up gave you an unintended benefit. :D
I'd like to do it, for fun and maybe for using the armor in the future.
