anyone have bugged Heavy Ammo Synth? (Destiny)

for two days, when i used a heavy ammo synth, it would not do anything. It would remove it from my inventory, and have a cool down, but it would not give me any ammo. I tried switching to a different heavy weapon, going to orbit, crossing load point, etc. nothing worked. Special and Primary ammo synth worked just fine.

Then i had a friend yesterday in the raid who came down with the same problem.

Finally, last night, i put a bunch of ammo synth in my vault. I had 30+ synth. You can only hold 20 in a single inventory slot, so if you have more than that, it takes up extra slots. After dropping what i carried down to 20, it started to work again.

Were you dead when you used it? I know for a fact they don't work correctly if you are dead.
