Assuming you have two characters and you do a public twice a day, You can collect up to 14 MoL a week plus any from XP for buying an Exotic Engram from Xur for either an Exotic or Exotic Shards.

They don't award the package for doing the Public Event Daily anymore. This led to a discussion of reasons you would bother doing public events.

They do reward ascendant shards/energy pretty frequently these days though. I just like doing them because fun.
