I think this sounds like something I'd like to pursue! I don't know anything about the FATE system, but I've been playing tabletop RPGs for the past few years and I love it. I also wrote some fan-fiction in my time and have been looking for a good outlet to maybe get back into it.

So definitely color me interested!

Well, compared to other games, FATE Accelerated is quite a bit simpler.

The game revolves around aspects, which define your character's past, personality and equipment. There are three types of aspects: The High Concept which is basically your class, Trouble which is what gets your character into trouble the most, and three other aspects which could be any of the things I mentioned above. Playing to your aspects earns you FATE points, which can be used as additional successes or re-rolls on horribly botched rolls. There are only 6 stats: Forceful, Quick, Flashy, Sneaky, Clever, Careful. Skills and combat revolve around making successful rolls with each of those stats. Characters also have stunts, which allow them to receive bonuses when doing very particular things or gain brief narrative control to do something really awesome.

So, if I were to make a Guardian FATE character...

High Concept: Gunslinger
Trouble: My Way or The Highway (If we don't do it my way, we don't do it at all)
Aspect 1: Dead Man's Hand (An excellent shot with hand cannons)
Stunt 1: Golden Gun (Once per game, you may immediately deal three stress to up to three targets)
Good (+3): Flashy
Fair (+2): Quick, Clever
Average (+1): Sneaky, Careful
Mediocre (+0): Forceful
