The death of Fusion Rifles in PvE (Destiny)

I keep a maxed one in every flavor just for situational engagement. Nothing is more effective at taking down shields in a Nightfall; you can engage melee enemies at midrange, and with burn multipliers they can melt almost anything. My final rest positively obliterates Sword Knights or Captains, and sees plenty more use than almost any of my special weapons.

See, in nightfall, I find a SNIPER to be much more useful. You are farther away and safer from the burn element, and snipers do tons of damage so if you use the appropriate element it cuts through shields in one hit.

You can chalk that up to playstyle if you want, I like to get up close and personal.
