The double tap takes you into a snap like menu. You can then use x to record a clip, y for screen shot, and the D-Pad for snaping, friends list etc. It's kinda a pain for stuff like recording.

I know you need to hit Y to save the screenshot, but my point is that the image that is being saved is grabbed the moment you double-tap the guide button, meaning you might still be able to get the HUD-less screenshots.

Didn't realize that's how it worked! They shouldn't make make it so convoluted to use. You can really tell that the original design of the snap system was built around the kinect.
