And how irrationally and violently pissed off I am when talking about Crucible?

He's right. They're all right! I don't need that shit! My other characters can do without. Exotic bounties be damned. I will raid and pillage my way to the top! I can get whatever guns I need--and BETTER--through Nightfalls, Prison of Elders, and most importantly: kicking fucking ass.

I'm not gonna lie though--I'll more than likely do that famous 'reset glitch' I always hear about, if I learn how to do it.

But other than that, I will spend the rest of Destiny doing truly what I do best: fucking up Fallen, raining Hell on the Hive, violating the Vex, and chin-kicking the Cabal.

I will DOMINATE!

So no more Crucible for me--Cornelius and I will be taking our fight to the surface and the nightmares below us.

Before Iron Banner goes live, log in with a character that reached level 5 previously. Stay logged in, and do not do anything until Iron Banner goes live. Try to select the tower, and you'll see it won't let you because you don't meet the requirements. Equip a different piece of armor, then go to the tower. You will still be at the rank you were previously. Buy everything you can.

Basically, your rank resets when you get the "Iron Banner" message upon going to orbit.

Supposedly, even pressing some of the things to load up the options, like crucible or Earth or something, can reset the rank.

After getting your free stuff you wouldn't be able to leave the tower... standing around until the next Iron Banner wouldn't work... and turning off your Xbox would just see you hit orbit next time you logged in. I suppose you could get three characters to rank 5 and then use each of them over the next three Iron Banners if you didn't touch them in the mean time?

I was assuming the message wouldn't show up if I logged in the next week.

The point is that you can get to rank 5 one week, buy the associated stuff, and then buy the NEXT week's rank 5 stuff without having to actually rank up a second time.

Or to put it another way, the point is not to stay rank 5 indefinitely. Just to be at that rank during two different weeks.

Given how IB doesn't happen on consecutive weeks and that I barely play Destiny as is, thought I could give it a shot.

If only IB wasn't so damn fun to play... But I guess it's not that different than regular Crucible for me, so I could skip it entirely if the reward for doing so was a guaranteed Etheric Light.
