That's not a corner... (Destiny)

If I can catch up to you "running around a corner" by jumping over something, than running fast isn't worth much, is it? :)

I can think of very few places where that might be a real option. 3, at the minute. There might be more but the fact that you've stopped shooting to give chase means I've achieved the desired effect - you've stopped shooting me. And if you're able to stop shooting, get over the object fast enough to catch up to me and start shooting me again, I've run in the wrong direction or you were already way too close to me.

The more I think about it the less I like this hypothetical. How big is this object that it's faster to jump over it than it is to run out of Line of Sight? All you need to do is literally nip round the nearest corner. And if it's that large, why would jumping up, then being on top of it (still in LoS) then dropping off it be superior?

The original argument, as I understood it, was based on the premise that there exist places for which it's better to jump than run, and the argument was that because the titan is so stinking fast, it's better for a titan to run than jump. If you're suggesting that it's almost always better to run than jump, regardless of the class, than (whether I agree or not) I can see how that would apply to most maps and common lines of sight.

But I don't think I buy that the titan's faster movement provides it with a plethora of running instead of jumping options that just aren't available to other classes.

On the running vs jumping debate in general, jumping is almost always superior in my mind. Strafing requires the person shooting to use on one axis of control, and your head stays on the same plane. Jump strafing requires 2 axis's of control. The added bonus is that on many maps, jumping will remove your head as a potential target due to obstruction (even if your toes get blown off), while running will generally eliminate your toes as a target before it does your head.
