Pretty darn stupid, also, that you got in on that first wave and seem to be getting them Friday while I missed the first wave and barely snagged the second and seem to be getting mine tomorrow. :(

I don't remember that being an option, but it seems crazy if it isn't...

We jumped on the best and only online preorder available for the edition we wanted and its arriving one to three days late. With the speed that the Collectors Edition sold out I don't even think ordering it in store was an option for me... :(

I think I'm just regretting not buying a code in a store.

I mean, it is 2015. I'm pretty used to buying digital things online. Why Microsoft / Activision doesn't let me do that is beyond me.

I wouldn't suggest doing this unless you want to pay extra. I ended up purchasing an Expansion I/II card at Best Buy because I got a discount for my Gamers Club Unlocked (which I got from buying an Xbox the week Destiny came out). It turns out the card wasn't a direct code to those expansions, it was just a code for $34.99 worth of Microsoft spending power. So, when I went to purchase those expansions in the Microsoft store, it charged me tax again, even though I had already paid sales tax at Best Buy. I still saved like $1.50 net, but it was still ridiculous. I guess there was some positive to Microsoft Points in retrospect.

Tax should only be charged when an actual product, not a gift card or certificate, is purchased.

I ordered from Gamestop. I'm pretty sure they only guarantee release day delivery if you pay an extra $10 for the overnight shipping option. I went with the el cheapo option (and then got impatient and bought the digital upgrade). I'm actually pleasantly surprised to see my copy might get here tomorrow. I was expecting it to be as late as next Monday.

Wow. Charging for overnight should only be necessary if the order is on short notice. I placed these orders three months ago… GameStop has had more than enough time to get their act together and ship these out on time.

I'm very disappointed in Bungie's selection of partner here in the US. Looks like I won't be able to play TTK until Friday at the earliest. :-/

Yeah. They're the only place I know of that doesn't do release day delivery for all preorders. Though, I guess they're at least honest about it. BestBuy has "guaranteed release day delivery" but has failed to deliver on time every single time I've pre-ordered something with them. My copy of Titanfall was nearly two full weeks late.

Just got home from two weeks of traveling. Was really hoping to use this decompression time to play The Taken King, but that’s apparently not happening.

Is it even worth it to hop on and play before TTK arrives? I obviously won’t be able to do any story stuff and I’ll be relegated to the “Legacy” playlists. Don’t think I’ll earn any XP, either. Are the new Patrol thingies worth checking out regardless? That’s kind of all I can do until the damn boxes arrive.

Awake for 24 hours and no Taken King makes Beorn gumpy. :(

From what everyone else is saying, I must've been extremely lucky. I preordered my Taken King Collector's Edition from GameStop pretty early as well, but I chose the free shipping. I didn't get shipping confirmation until about 3PM local time yesterday, but to my surprise, I did actually get my copy this morning. I had even changed my RSVP in the FTB raid event to tentative because I didn't expect it to arrive soon enough. I feel so extremely lucky right now. I wonder why mine did get delivered so quickly though.

Did you order from a mobile platform that perhaps didn't display all the info? I gleaned that I wouldn't be getting it until the day after release (at the soonest if I paid $10 for overnight shipping) because in the cart it said it would ship (not arrive) on 9/15/15.

I ordered it as insurance in case I couldn't find a local copy (which I did, fortunately). I also wasn't too concerned because I play on two platforms, and I can't play that much on two platforms on day one anyway. It wasn't like I need two physical copies of all the goodies. Right? ;)

I do feel your pain. I know what it's like to have a plan for your fun and not have it work out like you envisioned.

I'm such a creature of habit when it comes to Bungie game releases. I stayed up very late, went to Gamestop at midnight, spent a good bit of time in the wee hours piddling about in Destiny, oogling the goodies in the collector's edition, and so on. Finally, I was like, "what am I doing? I can't even play the new stuff until 5 a.m.!" I would have enjoyed yesterday more if I'd gone to bed early Monday night.
