No way. I use yours all the time for extra boring talk with the waitress at restaurants. Much more interesting.

"Do you have cherry Coke?"
"No, but we have grenadine I could put in there."
"Did you know that's not cherry flavored?"
"Of course it is!"
"No, it's pomegranate flavor. Hence the name. The name grenade also comes from the fruit."
"Yeah, OK. Whatever. So do you want it or not?"
"Yes, please."

As a former bartender at a fancy mixology place, I can confirm that pomegranate syrup is a better "cherry flavor" than cherry syrup for this exact reason. People who ask for cherry flavor actually want pomegranate flavor. The only exception is people who want "black cherry" flavor, which actually tastes like cherries.
