Kotaku has two of the only actual journalists in the "video game news" industry - Patrick Klepek and Jason Schreier. Those two guys are highly respected and write actually journalistic pieces on a regular basis. Unfortunately, they are far outnumbered by a bunch of fluff pieces. If you pay attention to who actually wrote any particular piece posted on any given video game news site, it becomes a lot easier to distinguish between the good apples and the rest of the bunch.

Don't know who to blame, really. Those fluff pieces bring in needed ad revenue. Who expects to pay for access to content these days? You might call those fluff pieces journalism's equivalent of Destiny's Eververse offerings.
