Dev Notes tl;dr:

Expect...

  • Positive changes to Cryptarch
  • Celebrations to your loot gain
  • Opt-in voice communication in Matchmaking
  • Strikes that are less grindy and difficult
  • Making certain Exotic Weapons more OP
  • Nerfs to Auto Rifles and Shotguns, while increasing damage to Scout Rifles.

Bungie has to be careful here. Nerfing weapons that players may have spent weeks getting (either by drop or marks), and possibly even more time leveling up, can lead to a lot of frustration. I can see many players who might have gone out of their way to improve their auto rifles and shotguns, who may now find all that time and effort wasted when it no longer performs how they have been expecting and relying on.

With most games it is no big deal, since weapons aren't gotten this way.

I remember quite well when the 1.07 patch hit Diablo 2, instantly making pretty much everybody's character useless.

If your game has a sizeable investment system, it is more important than ever that it be stable.
