The forever eater... aptly named! (spoilers) (Destiny)

Seriously, this took Guardian, Munky and I forever last night. It was painful! Reminded me of a 10 man WoW raid instead of 40 -- you've got less people so each person has to play better, there's less wiggle room. That last fight really felt like a raid boss.

Here are some tips that worked for us.

We had a 34 and two 33s. I would recommend 3 lvl 34's on this one, as the 33s are really too fragile. A 32 would be useless and die almost immediately.

• Go to the far left or far right. We had the best luck with the far right, but I don't know that either spot is perfect. The important part is taking cover from the many many hobgoblins that are everywhere.
  
  
• Assign roles. At the end we had Guardian focusing mostly on the boss, Munky on the eye, and I was on add patrol. We had everyone calling out where the eye was by the end, too. This may or may not have been helpful, but munky didn't tell us to shut up. =)
  
  
• Have one person focus on the Qodron's Eye buff. One thing Munky mentioned a while in (he was our focuser) was that the eye immediately respawns when he is shot. So there's no reason why you shouldn't have one person with the debuff all the time. At first we were trying to save him for closer to the bubbles, but that led to problems and really wasn't necessary. The eye is a random major of either a goblin or hobgoblin that glows slightly blue. Usually it seemed like a goblin. He likes to wander, but usually towards your half of the map. I am unsure on if you have the debuff up and kill him, if the buff resets.
  
  
• Stick together. The detain bubbles happen every 45-50 seconds, seems like about 15 seconds after you rez the poor sap(s) who died to them the last time. When Qodron is searching, we found the best strategy was to stay close. Munky, Our 34, would get the debuff for shield killing and be a few steps away. Us 33's would die to the bubbles in about 2 seconds, so we tried to time it so that our bubbles overlapped and he could take out the 33's bubbles first. Doing this sometimes kept everyone alive and sometimes only one of us died.
  
  
• Take cover just before the detain bubbles. I didn't do great at this and died when I was extra vulnerable after the bubbles. Just before the bubbles come up Qodron seems to become laser focused on the group and splash damage can ruin your bubble experience.
  
  
• secondary weapons. We found that light of the abyss at 331 took out the detain bubbles in 2 shots (at lvl 34) with the debuff. Level 33 almost took them out but there was a touch left. If you didn't have the debuff you were pretty screwed. Shotguns didn't seem to work as well, we tried a few different options. I think it still helps some to keep firing even without the debuff, to help the bubble popper with their job. I could usually get 3-4 shots of light of the abyss off without the debuff before dying due to the bubbles, and the shield was maybe 50% gone from that.
  
  
• Keep the adds cleared. When they first come up have everyone focus on those until they are thinned out some. About halfway into the fight I started focusing solely on the minions of this guy. At lvl 33 it took between 2 and 3 clips of my 365 scout rifle (16 rounds each) to kill a major hobgoblin, as often as possible with a sticky grenade attached. Since each wave spawns 4ish major hobgoblins, 4ish regular hobs, 4ish harpies and a bunch of goblins, it can get pretty intense at the beginning of a wave.
  
  
• Small arms. This one's a little random, and applies for an earlier wave... but hawkmoon simply tears things to pieces during small arms, 4000+ headshots. Thorn was at 3400-ish if I remember right.
  
  
• Lots of room for popping someone's cherry jokes, but it was too stressful to really make that funny for me at the time. It did strike me as creepy what we were saying a few times in the heat of combat tho. =)
  

Probably more but this is getting long. Feel free to chime in if you've also done this.

our MVP had to be radiance. If we hadn't had 2 warlocks with radiance it would have been much harder I think, and more frustrating. Often the first half we had everyone but 1 dead after the detain bubbles, and it was super convenient to have someone self-res. Related, Munky was great at keeping the orbs popping with his lvl 34 vault headpiece (with the new orb generation perk) and popping radiance to help kill the majors. I think those extra orbs helped quite a bit. I'd like to be able to radiance like he does someday. =)

Overall I'm happy with the challenge, but you really need to have a crew of 34's for this one. It felt closer to a lvl 35 event than 34, and my 33 really was barely up to the task. I just took too much damage, both from the snipers and especially the detain bubbles. We did the lvl 32 prison after and it was ridiculously easier, I think we may have wiped once due to general tiredness, but finished that one off in about 25 minutes.
