Also, if you end up on the right, there's a nice ammo pathway where the adds naturally end up, so you can hop down and do a circuit to refill your ammo, which is helpful.

I thought weapon damage is not affected by player level?

Your defense level is determined by the total light of your armor, I thought had no impact on your weapons, which level differently.

So for example, I have an ascended MIDA- does it not do the same damage in the hands of my 29 hunter that it would in my 32 Titan?
