The part that I find the most interesting is the bit regarding the Dreadnought and how it fits into the "end game". I believe the comparison they used was

it's like "you've killed Dracula, so now you get to explore his castle".

To me, this sounds like our time exploring the dreadnought will mostly take place after we complete the raid. There's the implication that the raid itself will be more prominently featured within the story arch of TKK, which is a first for Destiny. Even in The Dark Below, you could play through the story missions and feel like you'd reached the "end" of the plot line. You wouldn't really know that there was more to do unless you went out of your way to complete Crota's End.

It sounds to me like perhaps Bungie is trying to create more incentive for the larger player base to make the effort to complete the raid at least once, by tying it directly into the main story arch.
