Hedgemony continued his streak of finding news-worthy Destiny images with the discovery of Klash120's cosplay-filled flickr page. There are multiple sets to browse through (One | Two), giving you a glimpse into the entire process - from creating the costumes to goofing around outside Bungie HQ. Impressive stuff here!
The Playstation 4 has finally launched, and Bungie honored the event with some brand new in-engine footage and very exciting news for the PlayStation Nation: When the Destiny beta launches in early 2014, it will be available first on PS4 and PS3. Tough break, Xbox fans.
Looks like Bungie will be part of the GameTrailers PlayStation 4 launch coverage tonight
- tune in to "PS4 All Access" on SpikeTV at 11pm EST (8pm PST) or watch it streaming online. Rumor has it there will be a new trailer with some epic in-engine footage...The last time we heard from UnknownEmerald, he was showing off his Hunter and Titan costumes. It looks like his arsenal of Destiny weapons has grown, because now he's got a Conduit F3 fusion rifle to charge into battle with. It even lights up!
Playstation Access tackled Urk and Deej on the topic of the Moon, classes, exotic weapons, seamless social experiences and the Beta. Thanks, Xenos!
Learn how Bungie fan UnknownEmerald built his own Duke MK.44 in the video above, then check out his awesome Hunter and Titan costumes in the pic below. You can find more shots of these outfits over at his Deviant Art page. Nice work, UnknownEmerald!
We missed this when it was posted last week, but Episode 92 of the Playstation Blogcast continues the podcast's pattern of Bungie love with an appearance by environmental artist Coolie Callahan. Skip to 1:10:30 if you just want to hear the interview, which lasts for roughly 9 minutes. Fascinating stuff!
Our local mailman, Xenos, let us know that Bungie.net (which I hear is a popular site) now has a feature highlighting cosplayer, Karin Olava, whose excellent work we've featured here before.
The Duke MK.44 is a modern masterpiece with its holo sight and hair trigger, so it's no wonder that master prop builder Aslak from Orion Works decided to build bring it to life. Visit this Facebook gallery for a few more shots of the finished hand cannon, but don't forget to check out this WIP size comparison photo. The Forces of the City would be proud!
Two weeks ago, Urk made an appearance on the PlayStation Blogcast for a fascinating discussion on his role as Community Manager. The next episode of the podcast debuted last week and featured another interview with a Bungie employee: Josh Hamrick! His segment starts at around 13:50 and lasts for roughly ten minutes. Go listen to the Senior Gameplay Designer talk about his verbs, his favorite guns, and how he landed a job at our favorite game studio!
Remember that awesome Hunter mask Karin Olava built? If you were wondering how she made it, head on over to her Tumblr page for a quick synopsis of the steps taken and a nice collection of work-in-progress shots. Impressive craftsmanship, Karin!
Bungie released a new gameplay trailer today, focusing on the Moon, the Hive, and a new trio of Guardians. What are you waiting for? Go check it out! We'll wait... There's also a post on Bungie.net with some new Moon-themed wallpapers for your viewing pleasure.
It would seem this is going to be a busy week! DeeJ stopped by the PlayStation EU forums in the wee hours of the morning to give us our first look at the Destiny retail box art. In addition, it sounds like we'll be seeing a new gameplay trailer tomorrow and maybe even some pre-order announcements as well. Join the conversation in the forum and let us know what you think! Thanks to Hedge for the heads-up. [update!] Looks like Bungie will be taking us to The Moon tomorrow. Hat-tip to ZackDark in the forums.
What's better than a ridiculously sick community-built replica of "Thorn", the black-as-night afterlife-initiating hand cannon from Destiny? Not much. So. Awesome.
Saturday? Sunday? Same thing, right? Ragashingo ends the first run of Speculation Saturday (until there's more to dissect in the future) by shifting gears and throwing the spotlight on Destiny's actual gameplay: Combat, A.I., Fireteams, and all that jazz. Go tell him how wrong or right you think he is!
Hedge posted in the forum to let us know that the latest PlayStation Blogcast (#90) has an interview with Bungie community manger Eric Osborne (Urk)! It sounds like this is the first in a number of Bungie interviews they'll be presenting in their podcast! The entire episode clocks in at 1 hour 45 minutes, and the Urk interview kicks off at 15:10 and lasts around 12 minutes.
Back in August, we mentioned Karin Olava's cosplay Hunter, in construction. Recently, she's been tweeting up a storm about it: on September 7, she posted a bone bracer for the forearm, on September 13 she said she was 95% done (with awesome pics!), then later that afternoon, she showed off the Sculpey details for her rocket launcher. This morning, she posted a WIP shot of the launcher itself... I want one!
Argnarock and XenekosX, two of the earliest known Destiny cosplayers, are an engaged couple that wore Hunter and Warlock costumes to Metrocon in Tampa this past July. The results of their photoshoot have finally been posted, showing off the impressive weapons and armor the duo put together.
You can find image galleries at Argnarock's and XenekosX's individual Deviant art pages, but this Facebook gallery seems to be the most comprehensive.
(Thanks go to Destiny Updates for the new tip.)
I missed this earlier, but the PlayStation Blog posted an interview with DeeJ that touched on the classes, weapons, and co-operative play of Destiny. Be sure to look over the comments section for a few extra words from the interviewee!
As DBO and HBO slowly returns to its usual livelihood, we'll start to see plenty of write-ups and photos of the always-fantastic experience that PAX is. Bungie has started an album on their Facebook page showing off some of the fans they rallied this weekend. The keen-sighted might recognize our own nscuDuncan in a few of them, as well as some of the Hunter cosplay we mentioned this weekend.
(Bungie also picked up an exclusive Mars Curiosity Hot Weels. Besides wanting one myself, I got to love whenever Bungie connects their own inspiring space exploration to the real thing.)
Nicolle King decided to craft her own legendary gear and head out to PAX as a Hunter this weekend. You can see a few more photos of the costume on her Facebook or Twitter.
NcsuDuncan (one of our men in the field) also says he's got photos on the way with more cosplay in sight, so keep an eye out!
Jim Ryan, Sony's European head, talked to Metro recently, and confirmed that there would be Playstation hardware bundles involving Destiny. Not a huge surprise - but nice to know for sure! Thanks to Xenos, who found it at PlaystationLifeStyle.net.
