Tips for a kid Destiny player (Destiny)

My 10 year old nephew's getting an Xbox and Destiny for Christmas. I know a few of you have kidlets who play Destiny, so I'm wondering if there's anything I need to watch out for.
What has been the hardest for them? Is it easy to take them through raids? What frustrates them? Also, taking tips for what I suggest for his gamertag.
Chappy came up with nice animal names like "RetardedPanda" or "SyphiliticOcelot" or something like that. Solid names, IMO. I'm going to strongly urge him to not base it on his current interests and to create an alias he can use online forever, without having to shove numbers in there or use his real name. Or should I let him pick his own name and have it be super dumb like PokemonWWE4lief32X?
Looking for honest gamer parent advice.
