I seriously doubt that Cayde is dead (Destiny)

I bet the expansion ends with a reboot, and we get Cayde-7.

Maybe Cayde-7 will be more emo-y, and then everyone will long for the old, fun cayde

I'm not gonna guarantee that this doesn't happen - but that was the first speculation from the community when the Cayde-6 death was revealed, and Bungie employees responded directly with 'we're not bringing him back as Cayde-7'. (That's not to say that they didn't use some phrasing that lets them get out of the obvious interpretation... but that's what they said.)

I think at this point Bungie is going to have to commit to Cayde being gone for good for the sake of storytelling and expectation.

I mean, when DC said superman was going to die in the early 90s, then brought him back, some say that was directly responsible for the comics crash.
