Having actually read some of the lore, and knowing certain things about the characters, it only fueled my disappointment in how little information is fed to the players.

Everything from characters, motivation, etc. is fed to players awkwardly, such as who the Spider is, why he's there, his relationship to Mara and the Awoken in general. It eventually does get explained, but if you don't know the entire time that you're doing the story, then you don't know why you should care, and you don't.

Another issue with the indirect storytelling is that there is a key moment in the campaign where Mara-Riven says "Oh brother mine". For me and other players who are familiar with Ahamkaras, that was the 'Oh Crap' moment that solved the big mystery of the campaign. But that line meant nothing to Sammy, and I'm sure it means nothing to the thousands of players who don't read lore bits.

Information should be fed to the player more naturally.
