I don't get it.

This week, as a break in pattern from every week before it, you need to go to the purple circle to the left of her throne (as you walk towards it). You'll see a 'Press X to Lean Forward' prompt. This will trigger the cutscene.

I saw that. Although I had seen that video already (did it get leaked?) even though I hadn't been to the throne room yet.

Was still sort of expecting Mara to be there. Wasn't sure if she had been there before I saw the cutscene and I didn't get her dialogue because I watched the cutscene instead, or that maybe the cutscene was instead of her?

I don't know.

I do get that the assumption here is that people are playing every week if not every day and I haven't been, so it wasn't clear at all to me what I was supposed to see there, and if I had missed something or not.

I interpreted the OP to mean that we had to go visit Mara soon or else get spoiled, and I took that to mean going to see Mara instead of just... going to where Mara usually is?

The cutscene was leaked. This week’s visit to Mara’s Throne is the proper reveal of that cutscene, so anyone who’d managed to avoid the spoilers a few weeks ago was seeing it for the first time.
